Not Your Mom’s Makaron Recipe…

I know, I know, when youre done eating Makaron, your plate should have a nice red-ish shiny layer of oil on it. Well, these days we are all looking to eat something that tastes just as good but is not as bad for you! Here is a healthy alternative to the traditional Makaron we are all used to.

Things You Will Need:
Large Pot
Large Sauté Pan
Chef’s Knife
Garlic Crusher
Cutting Board
Wodden Spoon

1 lb. Ground Turkey (can be substituted with any ground meat of your choise)
1 Red Onion
4 Cloves Garlic
1 Can Tomato Paste
1 Can Tomato Sauce
1 Jalapeño
1 tsp. Cayenne Pepper
4 Tbs. Olive Oil
1 Package of Wheat Pasta of Your Choice

Fill pot with enough water to cover the pasta, and add some salt and allow to boil. Once water is boiling add pasta and allow to cook until soft. Strain and return to pot.

While pasta is cooking. Chop onion and jalapeño finely. Add olive oil to sauté pan over high heat. When oil is hot add onions,  and jalapeño sauté until soft. Add in ground turkey and cayenne pepper sauté together for about 10-15 or until turkey is cooked. Salt and pepper to taste. Add tomato sauce and about half can of tomato paste. Stir until all ingredients are mixed and add mixture to pot with cooked pasta over low heat. Stir and allow to set, then serve.

Chef’s Tips:
Using more cayenne pepper will make it spicier. Also, the more tomato paste you use the thicker the sauce will be. If you want to add a little bit of more flavor shave some fresh parmesan into pasta after mixing it.

Macarons in Japan are a popular confection known as “makaron”.There is also a version of the same name which substitutes peanut flour for almond and is flavored in wagashi style, widely available in Japan.,:-’
