Kueftah Riza Recipe

This dish was requested by a good friend of mine. After speaking with our Chef and much research, we came up dry. Lucky me I have a good friend named Sevak, who’s mother’s recipe has stuck with him and he was glad to share! This is an armenian style meatball dish. Please follow these easy directions to make yourself some Kueftah Riza!

Things You Will Need:
Large Sauté Pan
Large Cutting Board
Chef’s Knife
Wooden Spoon
Can Opener
Large Mixing Bowl

Ingredients:
1  lbs. pack of ground beef (can be substituted with ground turkey)
1 Large yellow onion
4 carrots
2 large potatoes
1 Tbl spoon salt
1 Tbl spoon pepper
1 can tomato sauce (or 2-3 fresh tomatoes)
4 Tbs. vegetable oil

Instructions:
Heat oil in sauté pan and saute onion,
In mixing bowl add salt and pepper to turkey, mix well and then roll the beef into balls. Make them about 1 1/2 inches in diameter.
chop potatoes and carrots and set aside.
add meatballs to sauté pan with onions, and let the meat cook for about 10 mintues.
add tomato sauce to the meatballs and onins  has cooked. bring sauce to a boil for 15-20 minutes, then add veggies, cover and let simmer on low for another 15-20. Salt and pepper to taste and serve.

Sev’s Tips:
You can substitute the tomato sauce with half can sauce half can paste, or put in fresh tomatoes 2 1/2 to 3 cups water
